Does Yaps work offline?+
Yes. By default, all speech-to-text processing happens locally on your Mac using Apple's built-in speech recognition. No internet connection is required for core features.
What macOS versions does Yaps support?+
Yaps requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. We recommend keeping your system up to date for the best performance and latest speech recognition improvements.
Is my voice data sent to the cloud?+
Not by default. Yaps processes everything locally. If you choose to enable cloud processing for enhanced accuracy, audio is sent over encrypted connections and is never stored after transcription.
How do I cancel my subscription?+
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Yaps app settings under Account > Subscription. Your access will continue until the end of your current billing period.
Can I use Yaps with other apps?+
Yes. Yaps works system-wide — you can dictate into any text field in any application. Voice commands can also be configured to interact with other apps on your Mac.
How do I set up voice commands?+
Open Yaps, go to Settings > Voice Commands, and click "Add Command." You can define a trigger phrase and assign an action like opening an app, running a shortcut, or typing a text snippet.
Yaps isn't recognizing my speech accurately. What can I do?+
Try speaking in a quieter environment, check that your microphone is properly selected in System Settings > Sound, and ensure you're using the latest version of Yaps. Enabling cloud processing in Settings can also improve accuracy for complex vocabulary.
How do I export my voice notes?+
In the Voice Notes tab, select a note and click the share icon. You can export as text (.txt), markdown (.md), or audio (.m4a). Batch export is available from the File menu.
