Our Story
Yaps started with a simple frustration: every voice assistant we tried wanted to be the center of attention. They interrupted, they listened when they shouldn't, and they sent everything to the cloud.
We wanted something different — a tool that sits quietly in your corner, ready when you need it, invisible when you don't. Something that is local-first, transparent about when cloud features are used, and integrates seamlessly into how you already work on your Mac.
So we built it. Yaps is the voice assistant we always wanted: fast, private, and genuinely useful. No gimmicks, no always-on microphones, no data harvesting. Just a beautifully simple tool that turns your voice into text, reads content aloud, and helps you work the way you think.
