Is my video uploaded?
No. The speech model runs inside your browser, so the file is read from your disk and never sent anywhere. That is also why there is no file size cap and no queue: we are not paying to process it.
What formats can I use?
Anything your browser can decode, which covers MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG and the audio track of most MP4 and MOV files. If a file will not open, exporting the audio as an MP3 first always works.
What is the difference between SRT and VTT?
SRT is the most widely supported format and is what YouTube, Premiere, Final Cut and most social platforms expect. VTT is the web standard used by HTML5 video players. Both are offered here and contain the same cues.
Can it burn the subtitles into the video?
Not in the browser. This tool gives you the subtitle file to upload alongside your video. The Yaps desktop app has Auto Captions, which renders word-timed, styled captions directly into a new MP4.
How accurate is it?
It uses Whisper, the same family of model behind most paid transcription services. Clear speech transcribes very well. Heavy accents, crosstalk and background music are harder, which is why every cue here stays editable before you export.
