A record of everything new, improved, and fixed in Yaps.

Releases

v 1.0 (iOS)August 17, 2026

## Yaps for iPhone and iPad

- Yaps: AI Voice Typing Keyboard is live on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
- A voice keyboard that types into any app, with speech recognition, cleanup, and read-aloud running on the device.
- Import audio or video files for on-device transcription, and keep notes in a searchable local vault.
- Guest mode works with no account. Note sync with desktop is optional and off unless you pair the devices.
- After the first-run model download, dictation, cleanup, and read-aloud work offline.

v 2.3.10 July 29, 2026

## Yaps Plugins & Notes Browsing

- Yaps plugins for ChatGPT Desktop, Claude Code, and Codex - 11 integrations covering dictation, transcription, meeting notes, text-to-speech, translation, SRT generation, auto captions, background removal, audio cleanup, video-to-audio, and Yaps Memory.
- Plugins run against the Yaps engine installed on your own machine, and check that it is genuinely reachable rather than guessing.
- Notes gained Finder-style folder browsing, a flat list view, and adjustable row density.
- Linux builds now publish alongside macOS and Windows on every release.
- Fixed bundled FFmpeg lookup for the media plugins, and recovery of the local Yaps account store.

v 2.2.0 July 28, 2026

## Meetings, Inside Studio

- Meetings moved into Studio, so recordings, transcripts, and read-aloud all live in one workspace.
- Added guided import with synced review - scroll the transcript and the audio follows.
- Meeting audio can be imported straight from video files.
- Added playback plus complete exports, and speaker editing for interviews that came back fragmented.
- Windows dictation now routes its supported languages through Cohere.

v 2.0.1 July 24, 2026

## Linux & Auto Captions

- Native Linux desktop support - the first Linux build of Yaps.
- New auto captions editor for video, with a catalog of 14 caption styles.
- Word-level caption highlighting via DTW word-timestamp alignment, with the flicker during pauses fixed.
- Added background removal to the video tools.
- Fixed long videos failing after a successful transcription.

v 1.3.0 July 21, 2026

## Onboarding & Localization

- Rebuilt onboarding: account setup now folds into the Ember opening instead of interrupting it.
- Added language cards with flags and clearer cues during first run.
- Localized the desktop interface, including copy generated on the backend.
- Polished vault selection and sped up the closing step of the flow.
- Enabled R8 optimization on Android for a smaller, faster build.

v 1.0.0 June 30, 2026

## Windows Dictation

- Dictation paste on Windows now works without admin privileges, via a uiAccess manifest.
- The Windows installer is Authenticode-signed.
- Fixed pasting into Teams and Outlook, where an overlay focus steal raced the clipboard.
- Fixed dictation while the Yaps window itself is open.
- Polished the live-preview pill: centered, widened waveform and faster preview text.
